Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith could wind up donning a San Antonio Spurs uniform before the Feb. 21 trade deadline, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Smith is a highly sought-after commodity this trade season and beyond due to his athleticism, but some teams have shied away from him due to his high price tag, as he is believed to be eyeing a max deal this offseason when he becomes a free agent.
The Spurs could use his athleticism on both ends of the floor and he could be the final piece of the puzzle if they don't have to give up too much to acquire him. Hawks general manger Danny Ferry is familiar with the landscape of the Spurs' front office, so that rapport could be instrumental in facilitating a deal.
The 27-year-old Smith is averaging 17.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
